The Federal Trade Commission has reached a settlement with Chicago-based Accretive Health after the medical billing company was banned from doing business in Minnesota, according to a StarTribune report.
In July 2011, the FTC said a laptop with 20 million pieces of information on 23,000 patients was stolen from an Accretive Health employee's car in Minnesota. The subsequent barring was related to charges the company failed to properly protect patient data.
