AAPC Professional Coders Must Prove ICD-10 Proficiency

AAPC members with certified professional coder credentials will have to demonstrate ICD-10 proficiency to maintain their certification, and the organization recently updated its requirements.  Coders can choose to take a timed proficiency assessment of 75 multiple choice questions in 3.5 hours or an ICD-10-CM online code set training at their own pace. The online assessment includes complete ICD-10-CM general training and 150 questions and cases.

For ways to prepare for the assessment, visit AAPC's website for various online assessment courses.
