In a Government HealthIT article, Tom Sullivan lays out seven ways to help physicians transition to ICD-10, according to a presentation by Cindy Seel, director of education and training with HRS, at AHIMA's annual convention.

The seven ways are:

1. Establish an overview of implementation training.
2. Take small bites.
3. Recognize the best training model for your clinicians.
4. Identify key documentation.
5. Get familiar with procedure coding system terminology.
6. Recognize the reality of general equivalence mappings.
7. Don't forget the office staff.
