A growing number of surgeons are frustrated with reimbursement, according to Michael Brown, CEO of New York City-based Fellow Health Partners
"There was even more grumbling this year about billing, payments and insurance companies. It seemed to be a perfect storm," Mr. Brown said in a press release from Fellow Health Partners CMO Fran Sharkey.
The executives recapped what they heard at AAOS's annual conference, March 12-16 in Las Vegas.
Three concerns for physicians:
- Collecting payments directly from patients as patient copays rise drastically
- Inability to collect payments because of broken billing software
- Losing out on insurance company denials because 60 percent of denied claims aren't resubmitted and customer service is lacking
"On a positive note, more doctors are taking control of the situation by forming their own ASCs or creating larger, more robust practices. However, the ones I spoke with all agreed that an efficient, effective billing service was essential to their success," Mr. Brown said.
Fellow Health Partners is a medical business solutions company that was established to help surgeons and facilities "get paid everything they've worked so hard to earn," according to Mr. Brown.
