AAAHC: 5 ways benchmarking studies can improve ASC quality

Benchmarking can lead to improved outcomes, according to the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care's Triangle Times newsletter.

Here are five ways benchmarking can improve ASC quality:

1. Benchmarking allows centers to compare their own performance to other facilities.

2. ASCs can also discover best practices through benchmarking.

3. After conducting a benchmarking study, ASCs can use the information gathered to design quality improvement programs.

4. After comparing performance to a peer, the ASC staff can get a better idea of the level of quality that can be achieved.

5. Continuous internal benchmarking can also ensure performance is maintained.
