Here are eight surgery centers that received accreditation in the first quarter of 2019:
1. The Katy, Texas-based Zazen Surgery Center was accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. Zazen Surgery Center offers gastroenterology services, acupuncture and aesthetic treatments, classes on nutrition, and vitamin therapies.
2. The Surgery Center at Lone Tree (Colo.) was accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, joining a distinguished group of 6,000 AAAHC-accredited ambulatory healthcare organizations. The ASC operates in SpineOne Medical Center, which offers treatments for back and neck pain.
3. Sierra Vista, Ariz.-based Coronado Surgery Center earned accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care April 9. The Coronado Surgery Center was established in 2017 and has two physicians on staff.
4. Novi-based Michigan Outpatient Surgical Solutions has been awarded accreditation from The Joint Commission. Established in 2018, the center has five staff physicians specializing in joint replacement, podiatry and ACL reconstruction and is a SurgCenter Development partner.
5. NueHealth's Jefferson Surgery Center - Blue Bell (Pa.) received three-year accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, as well as Medicare deemed status. The center was established in 2008 in partnership with 14 physicians, the Philadelphia-based Rothman Institute and Jefferson Health.
6. The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care accredited Medford, Ore.-based Crater Lake Surgery Center. Crater Lake Surgery Center's George Johnson, DO, and Joseph Savino, MD, said, "Going through the process challenged us to find better ways to serve our patients, and it is a constant reminder that our responsibility is to strive to continuously improve the quality of care we provide. We are focused on ensuring that patients have the best /surgical procedures experience possible while providing cost effective care in our community."
7. Katy, Texas-based Westgreen Surgical Center was re-accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. The ASC also earned Medicare deemed status.
8. Woodbury, Minn.-based Summit Orthopedics' Eagan (Minn.) Surgery Center received The Joint Commission's spine fusion certification. The physician-run surgery center has six operating rooms.
