Here are six ASCs accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care that Becker's ASC Review featured in April:
1. The Boynton Beach (Fla.) Ambulatory Surgery Center is affiliated with Tampa, Fla.-based Physician Partners of America, a healthcare facility management company.The facility has three operating rooms and 15 post-anesthesia care unit bays. Physicians at the center specialize in orthopedics, gynecology, ophthalmology and pain management.
2. Physicians at the Austin (Texas) GI Surgicenter treat ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease and irritable bowel syndrome. The Amercian Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy recognized the Austin GI Surgicenter for quality and infection control through its endoscopy unit recognition program.
3. Physicians at the Somerset Ambulatory Surgical Center specialize in pain management, urology, gastroenterology and orthopedics. The ASC has two operating rooms and three treatment rooms. The center is affiliated with United Surgical Partners International, is licensed by the state of New Jersey and is Medicare-certified.
4. Buffalo-based Ambulatory Surgery Center of Western New York was opened in 1999 by a group of ophthalmologists. It expanded in 2004 and 2006, adding podiatry, pain management and orthopedic specialties. Physicians at the center treat over 15,000 patients and perform 27,000 procedures per year.
5. The Atlanta Outpatient Surgery Center was established in 1978. Physicians at the center specialize in orthopedics, gynecology and pediatrics and other specialties.
6. The Surgery Center at Benbrook is a joint venture between Butler (Pa.) Memorial Hospital and a group of area physicians. Physicians specializing in gastroenterology, orthopedics, ophthalmology and pain management practice at the center.
