Missteps can affect an ASC's accreditation status, according to Surgical Information Systems, an IT company focused on solutions for ASCs.
Surgical Information Systems shared three ways ASCs can maintain accreditation:
1. Maintain accreditation standards. Keeping up with standards is important, even though surveyors won't return to an ASC right away after granting accreditation.
2. Perform mock surveys. Conducting mock surveys can help identify compliance shortcomings. ASC administrators should ask an individual from outside their organization who is familiar with accreditation standards to perform the mock survey.
3. Invest in resources. Investing in technology such as ASC-focused analytics and clinical documentation software can help centers stay compliant with standards.
