WSJ Health Blog Publishes Follow-Up Report to Coverage of Study of CRNAs as Sole Provider of Anesthesia Services

The Wall Street Journal's Health Blog has published a follow-up report addressing questions raised by commenters to its coverage of a recent study by Research Triangle Institute International, funded by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists and published in Health Affairs, claiming certified registered nurse anesthetists who provide anesthesia services without supervision from a physician do not put patients at increased risk.

The report attempts to answer several questions, including what anesthesiologists think of the study and what the requirements are to become a CRNA.

The report references readers to two stories published by Becker's ASC Review: ASA President Offers 7 Reasons to Question Anesthesia Cost-Containment Study and ASCs Subsidizing Anesthesiologists: Q&A With Dr. Thomas Wherry of Health Inventures.
