University of Pennsylvania announced that a research team led by scientists from the university has received $8.6 million in renewed grant support from the National Institutes of Health to lead a multidisciplinary anesthesia research program.
The money will be doled out to the team over the next five years. It will allow the researchers to continue their work, which is aimed at achieving an understanding of the molecular pharmacology of currently used general anesthetics, and then utilizing this understanding to improve current drugs and discover new compounds for better patient care.
