Retired anesthesiologist Georgina Goodwin, MD, died last week, according to an obituary in The Baltimore Sun.
Dr. Goodwin died of congestive heart failure at her residence at St. Elizabeth Hall in Timonium, Md. She was 87.
In addition to practicing anesthesiology, Dr. Goodwin served as the medical director for the Postal Service and was an activist for recovering alcoholics. She worked to get a halfway house for women built in Baltimore.
She received her medical degree from the State University of New York College of Medicine in New York City. She completed a residency in anesthesiology at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
