5 hospitals with new anesthesia agreements

Several hospitals have switched anesthesia providers or expanded existing anesthesia contracts in 2019.

Five changes reported by Becker's ASC Review:

Minneapolis-based Abbott Northwestern Hospital plans to replace its anesthesia provider next year. Sunrise, Fla.-based Mednax will continue providing anesthesia services at Abbott Northwestern until the new group, Minneapolis Anesthesia Partners, takes over in June 2020.

St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, Calif., plans to sever ties with its current anesthesia provider, Long Beach Anesthesia, despite backlash from the medical staff. St. Mary selected Harrison, N.Y.-based Somnia Anesthesiology as its new provider, effective Sept. 1.

Under a new agreement, Melville, N.Y.-based North American Partners in Anesthesia will cover the full spectrum of acute and elective procedures at St. Mary's General Hospital in Passaic, N.J.

Traverse City, Mich.-based Traverse Anesthesia Associates entered into a partnership with Traverse City-based Munson Healthcare to provide 24/7 care at Manistee (Mich.) Hospital.

Highpoint Health in Lawrenceburg, Ind., selected Cincinnati-based Seven Hills Anesthesia as its surgical sedation services provider.
