President Trump: ACA replacement may not come until the end of the year — 5 things to know

President Donald Trump and the Republican Congress have moved to repeal the ACA, but in an interview yesterday President Trump said a replacement may not be ready until next year, according to a New York Times report.

Here are five things to know:

1. Bill O'Reilly of Fox News conducted the interview with President Trump. When Mr. O'Reilly asked whether to expect a health plan rollout this year, President Trump said, "I would like to say by the end of the year at least the rudiments but we should have something within the year and the following year."

2. In the interview, President Trump said replacing the ACA was "complicated" but he was confident his administration would develop a "better" plan.

3. Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, R-Wis., previously promised to move ahead legislation that would replace the ACA by the end of March. However, there are some Republicans who fear repealing the ACA without a replacement that would cover the millions of people who received health insurance under the ACA.

4. President Trump's nominee for HHS Secretary Rep. Tom Price, MD, R-Ga., is scheduled for a confirmation vote later this week. President Trump mentioned in January he wanted to move forward with presenting a replacement plan after Dr. Price's confirmation.

5. Another senator, Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., proposed a repair to the ACA instead of a full repeal.
