Envision Healthcare is making several organizational and leadership changes to align with the company's dive into a physician-focused strategic plan.
Here are five things to know:
1. The company created the new executive vice president and chief operating officer role.
2. Envision named Karey Witty to the EVP and COO position, effective Oct. 2. She has 25-plus years of experience in executive, operational and financial leadership positions. Ms. Witty will report to Envision President and CEO Christopher Holden in her new role.
3. Envision also established a succession plan for current CFO Clair Gulmi. Envision's current Chief Accounting Officer Kevin Eastridge will take on the CFO role, effective Oct 2. For one year, Ms. Gulmi will serve as an adviser to Envision as she transitions her CFO responsibilities to Mr. Eastridge.
4. The company also implemented a succession plan for President of Physician Services, Robert Coward. Envision's COO for the Physician Services Group Brian Jackson will succeed Mr. Coward as president of physician services, effective Oct. 2. Mr. Coward is opting to pursue new opportunities and will be available for a 60-day period to help with the transition Mr. Jackson into the role.
5. Envision currently owns and operates 263 ASCs and one surgical hospital.
"We are excited about the progress we've made since closing the transformational combination of Envision and AmSurg, a merger that has advanced our physician-centric strategy," Mr. Holden says. "Today's announcement reflects a comprehensive evaluation of options to select the most effective management structure for our business, as well as the results of a robust search process. I am grateful for the contributions made by our leaders and team members at every level of our organization."
