A significant donation given by Ruth and Bill Scott will be used to expand the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, according to a KIOS Omaha Public Radio report.
The new IBD center will be named for Frederik Paustian, MD, the first specialty-trained gastroenterologist in the state, according to the report. The donation will in part fund an endowed chair for the new director of the center, who has yet to be named.
UNMC gastroenterologist Michael Sorrell, MD, will lead the efforts to recruit staff for the IBD Center.
