UCSF develops non-invasive colon screening method: 4 key notes

University of California San Francisco researchers have developed a non-invasive colon screening method.

Here are four notes:

1. The new method used CT scans to generate 3D holograms of the patient's colon.

2. The 3D images can also morph into video views, which enhance any polyps, lesions and other precancerous anomalies.

3. The new technique takes CT colonography a step further with the addition of holograms.

4. CT colonography is yet to be reimbursed by CMS, however, some private insurers do cover it.
