The Endoscopy Center at St. Mary goes Blue for colon cancer awareness — 3 observations

The Endoscopy Center at St. Mary in Langhorne, Pa., aimed to raise awareness of colon cancer by kicking off Colon Cancer Awareness Month in conjunction with the Colon Cancer Alliance's "Dress in Blue Day" on March 4, according to Bucks Local News.

Here are three observations:

1. The goal of Blue Month is to raise awareness that colon cancer screening really does save lives.

2. Since 2006, the fully licensed and nationally accredited team at ECSM has performed more than 5,000 endoscopic procedures annually, including colonoscopy, upper endoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy.

3. Colon cancer is the second leading cause of overall cancer deaths in the United States, and one in 20 people will be diagnosed with the disease.
