Pure-Vu System effective for intra-procedural colon cleaning: 3 data insights

A study presented at United European Gastroenterology Week found that MOTUS GI's Pure-Vu System effectively cleans poorly-prepared colons during colonoscopy procedure, so that colorectal cancer screening can take place.

The study included 50 colonoscopy procedures in which patients were given limited preparation instructions to create inadequately prepped colons. The researchers investigated whether use of the Pure-Vu System would increase the number of subjects with adequately cleansed colons.

Here's what you need to know:

1. At baseline, 31 percent of the study participants had adequately cleansed colons; this number significantly increased to 98 percent after use of the Pure-Vu System.

2. There were no adverse events reported; the system was given an excellent safety profile.

3. The system includes a disposable cleaning component that fits over a standard colonoscope. Physicians in the study said they found the system intuitive to operate.

The developers at MOTUS GI say that this device will help to decrease the prolonged procedure times, missed adenomas and repeat exams that occur when a patient does not appropriately prepare for a colonoscopy.
