Researchers from Brigham and Women's Hospital and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, both based in Boston, developed a set of ingestible devices that use stomach acid for long-term power.
Here's what you should know.
1. The devices can run for a week off of the body's fluids.
2. C. Giovanni Traverso, PhD, senior author, said this is the first ingestible device that derives powe from the stomach and small intestine.
3. Providers have used Ingestible devices for the last two decades.
4. Dr. Traverso and his colleagues are exploring other methods for long-term power while also improving the gastric-derived power method. They are debating a possible clinical test.
