A simulation model has shown a hybrid colorectal cancer screening process to be clinically and cost effective, according to The Oncology Report.
The method includes an annual fecal immunological test for people 50 years old and a single colonoscopy at 66.
Researchers at Kaiser Permanente Northern California did a virtual study of nearly 8,000 colorectal cancer cases and deaths and evaluated myrid screening methods, including annual FITs, 10-year interval colonoscopies, sigmoidoscopy at 5-year intervals and more.
