GI physician leader to know: Dr. Robert Wyllie of Cleveland Clinic

Robert Wyllie, MD, is chief of medical operations at Cleveland Clinic, a role he has held since 2011.He also serves as Vice Chair of the Cleveland Clinic's Office of Professional Staff Affairs. He previously served as chief of Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital, chairman of the Pediatric Institute and the first holder of the Calabrese Endowed Chair in Pediatrics. He is a member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American College of Gastroenterology and American Gastroenterological Association.

Dr. Wyllie focuses on Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. He is editor of a major textbook in pediatric gastroenterology and has authored over 130 articles in journals such as New England Journal of Medicine and Pediatrics. He has presented at more than 185 national and international scientific meetings. Over the course of his career, he has also developed new pediatric endoscopy techniques.

Dr. Wyllie earned his medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. He completed his residency and gastroenterology fellowship at Indiana University Medical Center.
