Raymond DuBois, MD, PhD, is the next dean of Medical University of South Carolina's College of Medicine and the executive director of the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University in Tempe. He will assume his new role with MUSC on March 1. He is a past president of the American Association for Cancer Research and International Society for Gastrointestinal Cancer. He also currently serves on the Executive Management Committee for the Stand Up to Cancer Foundation.
Dr. DuBois has published 137 peer-reviewed journal articles, 62 article reviews, 25 book chapters and three books. He is a co-inventor of a method to identify and prevent cellular genes necessary for viral growth and cellular genes that function as tumor suppressors in mammals. He has received numerous awards over the course of his career, including the Outstanding Investigator Award from the American Federation for Medical Research and the Shanghai Cancer Forum Award from the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology. He has also received major grants as a National Cancer Institute Program Project grant. Prior to joining ASU, he served as director of Vanderbilt University Medical Center's Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition in Nashville, Tenn.
Dr. DuBois his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He completed his residency and a gastroenterology fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
