GI physician leader to know: Dr. Lawrence Schiller of Digestive Health Associates of Texas

Lawrence Schiller, MD, is a member of the board of directors, the Quality Assurance and Credentialing Committee and Nominating Committee at the Digestive Health Associates of Texas in Dallas. He is the program director of the gastroenterology fellowship; a member of the Committee on Medical Education; and chairman of the Institutional Review Board for Human Subject Protection at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.

Dr. Schiller is also a clinical professor at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He is the past president of the American College of Gastroenterology and a member of American Federation for Clinical Research, American Gastroenterological Association and American Motility Society. He was a co-author of two evidence-based systematic reviews developed by the ACG Institute.

Dr. Schiller's clinical interests include colon cancer screening, gastroesophageal reflux disease, irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn's disease and motility disorders. He was honored with the David L. Sun Lectureship at the American College of Gastroenterology postgraduate course in 2001. He has also won the Texas Society for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy's Marcel Patterson-Robert Nelson Award in 2007.

 Dr. Schiller completed his medical degree at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He completed his residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. He then completed his gastroenterology fellowship training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Dallas.
