Jay C. Desai, MD, is a practicing gastroenterologist with New York Gastroenterology Associates and a clinical instructor of medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center, also in New York. He is a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, New York Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and American Gastroenterology Association.
Dr. Desai focuses on promoting and improving techniques for colorectal cancer screening. His research interests include improving the performance of endoscopy and studying the effects of commonly prescribed medication on the gastrointestinal tract. He currently serves as a mentor of the Digestive Disease Research Foundation, where he work with two medical students to shape and complete various research projects related to improvement in detection and removal of sessile serrated adenoma as well further description of gastrointestinal risks of common medications.
Dr. Desai's work has been published in peer-reviewed publications, such as Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology. He has won a number of awards, including the Presidential Poster Award from the American College of Gastroenterology and the Poster of Distinction award at AGA's Digestive Disease Week.
Dr. Desai earned his medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. He completed his residency and fellowship in gastroenterology at New York University School of Medicine.
