Jacquelyn J. Maher, MD, is a professor of medicine at the University of California in San Francisco and chief of gastroenterology at San Francisco General Hospital. She also serves as director of the UCSF Liver Center.
Dr. Maher's clinical interests include fatty liver disease and hepatotoxicity with a focus on drug-induced liver injury and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. At the liver center, Dr. Maher's experiments focus on dietary sugar and saturated fat. She has authored and co-authored more than 75 research articles.
Dr. Maher earned her medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, N.C., and completed her residency at Duke University Medical Center. She underwent her gastroenterology fellowship at UCSF.
