GI physician leader to know: Dr. David Greenwald of Mount Sinai Hospital

David Greenwald, MD, is the director of clinical gastroenterology and endoscopy at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. He is also a professor of clinical medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and a medical director at the Advanced Endoscopy Center, both in New York. He previously served as fellowship program director in gastroenterology at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Dr. Greenwald is a past president of the New York Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and currently serves as its education director. He is a member of the board of trustees for the American College of Gastroenterology and the co-chairman of the Quality Subcommittee for the Citywide Colorectal Cancer Control Coalition in New York. He is a Board Member of GIQuIC, the GI Quality Improvement Consortium.

Dr. Greenwald's research interests center on reprocessing and infection control in endoscopy, GERD, colon cancer screening and prevention, and capsule endoscopy. He has won numerous awards over the course of his career, including the William Carey Award from the American College of Gastroenterology. His work has been published in prestigious publications, such as Gastrointestinal and Liver Disease and Gastroenterology Clinics of North America.

Dr. Greenwald earned his medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his residency and gastroenterology fellowship at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in New York.
