GI physician leader to know: Dr. Daniel Chung of Massachusetts General Hospital

Daniel C. Chung, MD, is clinical chief of the Gastrointestinal Unit and director of the High-Risk GI Cancer Clinic at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He provides care at the cancer center and digestive healthcare center.

Dr. Chung focuses on colon cancer screening, familial adenomatous polyposis/Gardner syndrome, hereditary diffuse gastric cancer, familial pancreatic cancer and pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors. His research interests include the hypoxic microenviroment in colon cancer and molecular genetics of gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors. His work has been published in a number of journals, such as Gastroenterology and Nature Medicine.

Dr. Chung earned his medical degree at Harvard Medical School in Boston. He completed his residency and fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, also in Boston.
