Michael Gilbert Goggins, MD, is a gastroenterologist and a professor of pathology, medicine and oncology at Baltimore's John Hopkins Medicine.
He is the director of the Pancreatic Cancer Early Detection Laboratory and a molecular biologist.
Dr. Goggins researches the role of germline BRCA2 mutations in pancreatic cancer and the molecular genetic progression model for pancreatic cancer.
His career began after he earned his medical degree from the Dublin, Ireland-based Trinity College. His residency and fellowship were completed at St. James' Hospital in Dublin. He became a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland in 1991, and earned his European Diploma in Gastroenterology in 1995.
Dr. Goggins is on the editorial boards of Gut, Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology and Cancer Biology and Therapy.
