Rohit Loomba, MD, MHSc, is vice chief of gastroenterology at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine in La Jolla. He is also director of the Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease Research Center at the university.
Dr. Loomba’s clinical interests include the aging, epidemiology, genetic and environmental predisposition of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, and the natural history and treatment of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. The American Gastroenterological Association awarded Dr. Loomba the AGA Foundation-Sucampo-ASP Designated Research Award in Geriatric Gastroenterology.
Dr. Loomba earned his medical degree from the Armed Forces Medical College in India and completed his residency at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. He underwent his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of California San Diego.
