Chung Owyang, MD, is a gastroenterologist at the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor.
Dr. Owyang's clinical interests include digestive health, irritable bowel syndrome, management of chronic pancreatitis, motility disorders and obscure diarrhea. He serves as the scientific co-founder of Framingham, Mass.-based The GI Company, as well as co-chairman of the company's board. He previously served as president of the American Motility Society.
In 2013, the American Gastroenterological Association awarded Dr. Owyang the Julius Friedenwald Medal in honor of Dr. Owyang's dedication and contributions to the gastroenterology field.
Dr. Owyang earned his medical degree from McGill University Faculty of Medicine in Canada and completed his residency at Montreal General Hospital in Canada. He also completed an internal medicine and gastroenterology fellowship at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minn.
