The American College of Gastroenterology has announced the new co-editors-in-chief of The American Journal of Gastroenterology. Here are four things to know about the new editorial leaders and the journal.
1. Brian E. Lacy, MD, PhD, FACG, of Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., and Brennan Spiegel, MD, MSHS, FACG, of Cedars-Sinai Health System in West Hollywood, Calif., will serve as co-editors-in-chief.
2. Dr. Lacy and Dr. Spiegel are taking over editorial leadership of the Red Journal from William Chey, MD, and Paul Moayyedi, MD. "The previous Co-Editors, Drs. Chey and Moayyedi, have done an amazing job with The American Journal of Gastroenterology over the last six years and have set an extremely high bar for us. We hope that our vision and goals for the Journal exceeds those high standards," said Dr. Lacy.
3. The new editorial leaders plan to make the journal more accessible, educational and innovative. The physicians hope to expand the journal's international reach and emphasize obesity and nutrition research in GI.
4. The Red Journal, the clinical journal of the ACG, is published by the U.K.-based Nature Publishing Group.
