Dr. Ajay Jain wins NIH grant for parenteral nutrition-associated injury research: 5 key notes

Ajay Jain, MD, received a grant from the National Institutes of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases of the National Institutes of Health.

Here are five key notes:

1. The $703,620 grant will fund Dr. Jain's research on strategies for preventing parenteral nutrition-associated injury. The grant also provides support for research into gut microbes.

2. The NIH grant builds on previous research. Dr. Jain received a $150,000 grant from the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition in 2015.

3. He also received a $50,000 grant from the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Rhoads Research Foundation in 2014.

4. Dr. Jain is a pediatric hepatologist and gastroenterologist at Saint Louis University.

5. He is also the medical director of the pediatric liver transplant program at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis.
