Canadian researchers have published their results of a study focused on a new blood screening tests for colorectal cancer in the journal Biomedical Optics Express.
The test screens blood samples for molecular traces indicating the presence of precancerous polyps. The test is designed to complement colonoscopy.
Initial results are promising, but the test is still in the research phase. It has the potential to become a first-line screening test to identify patients with warning signs of colorectal cancer.
