The American Gastroenterological Association named Timothy Wang, MD, its 111th president.
Here are five notes:
1. Dr. Wang has been an active member of the AGA since 1986. He has served on several boards, most recently serving as chair of the AGA Institute Research Policy Committee.
2. Dr. Wang is the chief of the digestive and liver diseases divison and the Dorothy L. and Daniel H. Silberberg Professor of Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City.
3. He has served as editor-in-chief for Therapeutic Advances in Gastroenterology and an associate editor for Gastroenterology and GI & Hepatology News.
4. He has won numerous awards over the course of his career, including the AGA Robert & Sally Funderburg Gastric Cancer Award.
5. Founded in 1897, the AGA currently includes more than 16,000 members from around the world.
