5 GI physicians in the headlines — Sept. 16, 2016

Here are five gastroenterologists in the news this past week.

Craig McClain, MD, received a five-year $11.5 million grant from the NIH's Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence to lead a study on liver cancer, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and alcoholic liver disease.

David S. Goldberg, MD, and nephrologist Peter Reese, MD, are studying kidneys from organ donors who were infected with Hepatitis C.

Larry Kosinski, MD, and Joel V. Brill, MD, met with CMS officials to advocate for the expansion of alternative payment models under MACRA.

Thomas Imperiale, MD, was named the inaugural Lawrence Lumeng Professor in Gastroenterology and Hepatology of Indiana University's School of Medicine.
