Western Connecticut Orthopedic Surgical Center's total joint replacement program featured: 2 things that make it work

After receiving high praise from patients Danbury-based Western Connecticut Orthopedic Surgical Center shared details about what makes their total joint program so successful, the Hamlet Hub reports.

Here's what you need to know from the center's former patients.

1. Former patient Phil Ruckel said before his surgery the care staff took a proactive approach to explain the procedure to him and answered his questions beforehand. They also helped to "build [his] confidence" which he said helped him recover faster than expected.

Another former patient Bill Dempsey had a similar experience. Mr. Dempsey has visited several orthopedic surgeons, but said his experience at the surgery center was the best. "I won't go anywhere else," he said in the report.

2. Mr. Gary Furtak, who underwent a full knee replacement, said a registered nurse practitioner at the center followed-up with him at his home after he underwent surgery to ensure his recovery was on pace. The whole process allowed him to return to work in 28 days.
