Surgery Center of Allentown’s Dr. Jay Talsania receives Physician of the Year honor: 5 key notes

The Lehigh Valley Business named Jay Talsania, MD, Physician of the Year. 

Here are five key notes:

1. Dr. Talsania is an orthopedic surgeon with a special interest in hand and upper extremity procedures at Surgery Center of Allentown (Pa.). The surgery center is affiliated with AmSurg.

2. The Lehigh Valley Business names Health Care Heroes Awards recognizing organizations and individuals that make an impact on the quality of life for the community.

3. Dr. Talsania joined OAA Orthopaedic Specialists in 1997 and added three partners since then. The hand center at the practice recorded 21,000 patient interactions in 2015.

4. In addition to his Pennsylvania practice, Dr. Talsania has made nine trips to Guatemala since 2007 to participate in medical mission trips. Guatemala Healing Hands Foundation sponsored the mission. Last year, Dr. Talsania and his daughter distributed more than 600 pairs of shoes in a small village in Guatemala.

5. Dr. Talsania earned his medical degree at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, where he also completed his residency. His additional training includes a fellowship in hand surgery at Thomas Jefferson University and The Philadelphia Hand Center.
