Sen. Rand Paul provides charity eye surgery in Kentucky during RNC week: 4 key notes

Despite the fact that the Republican National Convention is underway, U.S. Senator Rand Paul, MD, was in Paducah, Ky., on July 19 providing free eye surgery, according to a West Kentucky Star report.

Here are four key notes:

1. Sen. Paul participated in a program for uninsured patients in Paducah.

2. Sen. Paul has come to Paducah twice a year for the last five years to perform these free surgeries.

3. He owned an ophthalmology practice in Bowling Green, Ky., where he practices for 18 years.

4. He founded Southern Kentucky Lions Eye Clinic, which provides eye exams and surgery to those in need.
