Medical Facilities Corp. signed a letter of intent to acquire Unity Medical and Surgical Hospital in Mishawaka, Ind. MFC would acquire an indirect 83 percent interest in the physician-owned medical and surgical hospital. MFC is funding the deal on available cash as well as a draw of MFC's credit facility.
Surgical Care Affiliates is partnering with Raritan Valley Surgery Center in Somerset, N.J., which will increase SCA's New Jersey footprint to 13 locations and 19 additional physicians. Jointly owned by SCA and physician owners, RVSC offers podiatry, orthopedics, spine, spine, gastroenterology, otorhinolaryngology and pain management services.
Ernst & Young named AmSurg President and CEO Chris Holden Entrepreneur of the Year Southeast for Healthcare. With 21 years of healthcare experience, Mr. Holden has served as AmSurg's president and CEO since October 2007.
Nobilis Healthcare reported total assets at $228.2 million for the first quarter, consisting primarily of cash at $16.2 million and accounts receivable at $74.2 million. The company reported $44.8 million of Goodwill and $34.5 million of PP&E.
During the week of July 11 to July 15, Hospital Corporation of America shares increased 0.1 percent, hitting $78.31 per share.
