Mississippi Valley Surgery Center will be moving forward with the second phase of the center's long term growth plan.
The surgery center opened in 1996 and recently received Iowa Department of Public Health, State Health Facilities Council approval to proceed with an $8 million modernization project at their Dexter Court location in Davenport, Iowa. The center's board of directors is planning to re-design and modernize the facility to serve more patients over the next two decades.
The current surgery center includes six overnight patient stay rooms, usually occupied by patients who undergo orthopedic, spine, ENT, general surgery and plastic surgery procedures. Surgeons have performed total joint and spine surgeries at the center since the mid-1990s and the center includes advanced technology for ENT and eye procedures.
With the modernization, MVSC plans to:
• Add eight overnight rooms
• Give patients private rooms designed for outpatient procedures
• Purchase new technology to bring more complex procedures into the center
• Re-design the center for better patient flow
MVSC included physicians and nurses in the planning stages of the new development and selected Bush Construction as the general contractor; BLDD is the architecture firm. The modernization project is expected to be completed in fall 2018.
