Carlsbad (Calif.) Surgery Center is providing free surgical care for local San Diegans in need, according to a KPBS report.
Here are five things to know:
1. The surgery center is participating in Saturday Surgery Days, a San Diego County Medical Society Foundation event to provide San Diego residents with unmet needs the appropriate care.
2. The surgery center provides the facility, surgeons, nurses and other medical professionals who are donating their time during the event.
3. Carlsbad Surgery Center is affiliated with Surgery One and owned by local physicians. The surgery center opened in January 2009 and includes four operating rooms.
4. Specialties at the surgery center include orthopedics, spine surgery, pain management, joint replacement surgery, stem cell therapy, cardiac surgery, ENT and ophthalmology.
5. There are 27 physicians affiliated with the surgery center, which has accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.
