HCA Holdings to become HCA Healthcare
HCA Holdings, based in Nashville, Tenn., is changing its name to HCA Healthcare. CEO Milton Johnson told investors during an earnings call the company was changing its name to "better reflect how the company interacts with patients."

2 NY health systems clinically affiliate
Great Neck, N.Y.-based Northwell Health formed a clinical affiliation with Syracuse, N.Y.-based Crouse Health. Crouse performs more than 17,000 procedures on an inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory basis each year. Over the past couple years, Northwell has expanded its ASC presence. The health system completed its ninth ASC joint venture in February.

Gastro Health acquires Dr. Orlando Torres' practice
Miami-based Gastro Health acquired the Hialeah, Fla.-based practice of Orlando Torres, MD. The acquisition is Gastro Health's first in Hialeah, Fla., and its 26th in South Florida.

Nearly 50% of US physicians received $2.4B in 2015 industry payments
An Open Payments analysis found 48 percent of physicians received industry payments in 2015. In sum, these payments totaled $2.4 billion that year.

Valeant considering name change follow tumultuous year
After weathering several financial scandals, CEO Joe Papa said Valeant Pharmaceuticals is considering changing its name. Valeant appointed Mr. Papa CEO in May 2016 and he has attempted to settle the company's $30 billion in debt.

AmSurg Partner Dr. John Pajka completes mission trip
John Pajka, MD, of Lima-based Eye Surgery Center of Western Ohio, and Robert Derick, MD, of Columbus (Ohio) Eye Surgery Center, completed mission trips to Nicaragua and Jamaica. Dr. Pajka is an AmSurg partner.

Sentara BelleHarbour breaks ground on $34M building housing ASC
Suffolk, Va.-based Sentara BelleHarbour, an outpatient medical center, is building a new medical building which will house an ASC in Suffolk. The $34 million building will also include two operating rooms, an expanded emergency department, medical office space, 14 observation beds and a helipad.
