CMS withdraws proposal that would have made accreditation reports public
CMS withdrew a proposal which would have required accrediting organizations to publicly disclose their accreditation surveys. CMS withdrew the rule after a flux of public comments.
Healthcare adds 39k jobs in July
The Bureau of Labor Statistics released the July 2017 jobs report, showing similar results to the June report. Overall, the unemployment rate remained relatively flat at 4.3 percent in July. Around 7 million Americans were unemployed. The labor force participation rate was also flat at 62.9 percent in July.
Gastro Health acquires Gastrointestinal Center of Hialeah
Miami-based Gastro Health acquired the Gastrointestinal Center of Hialeah (Fla.). The Joint Commission-accredited ASC features three operating rooms and specializes in outpatient gastrointestinal procedures.
Allergan reports Q2 revenues of $4B
Allergan reported second quarter fiscal year 2017 revenues of $4 billion on Aug. 8. The company reported a 9 percent growth in year-over-year revenue.
