48 percent of payers supported a single-payer healthcare system according to a LinkedIn survey from February 2017.
LinkedIn polled 511 providers in February, asking if they would support a move to single-payer healthcare. LinkedIn selected a random number of respondents with varying degrees of experience.
Here's what you need to know.
1. Forty-eight responded they support a single-payer health system, 32 percent said no and 21 percent didn't know.
2. Providers acknowledged the financial hit they would take under the single-payer system, but said increased patient flow would mitigate this hit.
3. Providers opposed to universal healthcare said it would stifle innovation and reduce competition. Other providers stated a lack of confidence in the government or a fear of excessive power as the reasons behind their "no" vote.
