With Walla Walla (Wash.) General Hospital closing along with its outpatient clinics, Walla Walla Clinic has allocated more time and resources to providing healthcare to the community, according to the Union-Bulletin.
Here are four things to know:
1. The clinic filed a letter of intent with the Washington State Department of Health to apply for a certificate-of-need. The CON would pertain to allowing community physicians to perform procedures at the ASC.
2. If the clinic fails to obtain the CON, these physicians are barred from using the ASC.
3. For now, the clinic has expanded its operating hours until the board makes a decision regarding the ASC's CON.
4. To accommodate for a lapse in pediatric care, Walla Walla Clinic partnered with Children's Home Society to provide a full-time pediatric social worker for families. The worker will help families become aware of available resources within the Walla Walla community.
