Surgical Care Affiliates, OptumCare to merge; Nobilis Health Corp. to boost in-network patient volume by 50%+ through Hamilton Vein Center deal & more — 6 ASC company key notes

Here are six updates on ASC management companies to note.

Houston-based Nobilis Health Corp. entered into a definitive agreement to purchase Texas-based Hamilton Vein Center for $13.25 million. Once the deal closes, Nobilis' in-network patient volume mix will increase by more than 50 percent.

Deerfield, Ill.-based Surgical Care Affiliates is merging with Optum, a health services company and part of UnitedHealth Group. Andrew Hayek, SCA's chairman and CEO, and SCA executives will continue leading SCA and the Optum platform.

Greenwood Village, Colo.-based Envision Healthcare Corp.'s physician services division purchased Winter Haven, Fla.-based Sunshine Radiology. Through the acquisition, Envision now offers radiology physician services to 80 facilities throughout the United States.

Toronto, Canada-based Medical Facilities Corp. named Tyler Murphy chief financial officer. With more than 15 years of industry experience, Mr. Murphy hails from a large publicly-traded U.S. healthcare company where he served as vice president and treasurer.

Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America shares rallied 3.5 percent, hitting $76.62 per share during the week of Jan. 2 to Jan. 6, 2017.

During the third quarter of fiscal year 2016, Welch Capital Partners increased its stake in Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare by 93.65 percent. Since May 2016, Tenet stock has plummeted 46.79 percent.
