Orthopedic-driven surgery center inches closer to final approval: 5 things to know

Developers are awaiting final approval from the Auburn (N.H.) Planning Board to build Access Ambulatory Medical in Auburn, the New Hampshire Union Leader reports.

Here are five things to know;

1. The proposed surgery center will mainly offer orthopedic services and various otolaryngology surgeries.

2. Developers are doing construction in three phases, with the first phase housing the facility's main operating room, a backup operating room, patient bays, equipment as well as electrical and utility spaces.

3. The two other phases will feature a medical office building, another operating room and more patient bays. The developers do not have a concrete timeline for the second phases, with Jason Lopez, the project's engineer, noting, "Market conditions will set whether phase two or phase three is constructed first."

4. Developers want to place two signs on the property detailing plans for the surgery center and office building. The Auburn Planning Board conditionally approved a waiver for the signs, but said they are waiting on developers to go over their final designs before they completely approve the waiver.

5. The facility's developers aim to have signage plans ready for board approval during the board's meeting on March 15, 2017.
