Great Neck, N.Y.-based Northwell Health is buying a 20 percent stake in Harrison, N.Y.-based Surgical Specialty Center of Westchester, according to Westfair Communications.
Here are five points:
1. Northwell could bolster its stake in the ASC to 51 percent within the next five years as per the partnership's terms.
2. Eight physicians own Surgical Specialty Center of Westchester, which is a 34-surgeon practice that houses four operating rooms, five preoperative stations and a six-bed post-anesthesia care unit.
3. The 11,000-square-foot center offers cosmetic surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, ophthalmologic procedures, oculoplastic surgery, hand surgery, gynecology, oral surgery and otorhinolaryngology services.
4. Each year, the surgery center's providers treat 3,500 patients.
5. The partnership is Northwell's ninth ASC joint venture.
