Excelsior Orthopaedics to officially break ground on $9.5M ASC: 5 key points

Excelsior Orthopaedics, based in Buffalo, N.Y., will officially break ground on its new, $9.5 million ambulatory surgery center in Amherst, N.Y., according to The Buffalo News.

Here are five key points on the ASC project.

1. The physician group partnered with Matrix Development to build the new surgery center, which will replace the existing Buffalo Surgery Center.

2. The new surgery center will be one story and 27,175 square feet.

3. The multispecialty surgery center will offer orthopedics, pain management, ophthalmology and gastroenterology. The new ASC will add eight new gastroenterologists, according to the report.

4. The Amherst Town Board rezoned 1.1 acres of land to pave the way for the new surgery center, according to the report.

5. Excelsior Orthopaedics hopes to open the new facility in January 2016.
