Excela Health CEO outlines future outpatient strategy, including new $40M center: 4 key notes

Excela Health in Greensburg, Ga., is opening a new outpatient care center next January at Excela Square at Latrobe, according to a Trib Live report.

Here are four things to know:

1. The health system broke ground on the outpatient center in May 2016 and expects the facility to open in the middle of January 2018. The 115,000-square-foot center will include physician offices and medical services.

2. The $40 million facility is part of the system's general move toward outpatient surgery; Excela may also build a similar facility in Murrysville, Pa.

3. Excela is nearly finished with renovations at its Health Frick Hospital in Mt. Pleasant, Pa., which updated the facility into a medical mall.

4. Excela opened an outpatient center in Norwin, Pa., in 2012 and another in Ligonier, both of which have been successful.

"We're trying to move as much care as we can from inpatient to outpatient facilities," said CEO Robert Rogalski at a Westmoreland Chamber of Commerce luncheon at St. Vincent College.
